Across the Arctic Circle. An ideal first time expedition to Helgeland, an undiscovered corner of Norway.
After four years paddling, Simon and his wife Liz planned their first sea kayak mini-expedition to cross the Arctic Circle. In Helgeland, a relative unknown part of Norway, they discovered an ideal destination for first-time expeditioners, with fifteen thousand islands, soaring peaks, sea eagles and dramatic fjords. An account of their journey appeared in the November 2007 edition of Ocean Paddler magazine.

Simon Willis
Thousands of sea kayakers around the world know Simon's voice from his podcasting website SeaKayakRoutes.com, and through his work as a correspondent with the BBC. While tackling a series of unclimbed peaks in Alaska, Simon met his wife Liz and together they hiked the 2,500 mile wilderness Pacific Crest Trail in 2002. Then they turned to sea kayaking and became passionate advocates for the sport. They live and kayak on Scotland’s west coast.
