Thanks a lot to everyone who helped make Canoexpo such a great weekend. The exhibitors, speakers, staff and the public all contributed to an event with a great atmosphere.

Final attendance is still to be verified but it seems that nearly 5000 people made the effort and saw a huge range of products, services and speakers.

A full report and photo gallery will appear on the home page in the next day or so and details will be released in May about Canoepxo 2009

We have had confirmation from the last few exhibitors today, so welcome to Canyon gear, manufactures of made to mesure paddling kit and embroidery, Aboard UK who will be bringing safety gear, Jersey Kayak adventures providers of Sea kayak and sit on top tours, North West Passage coming all the way from the US and Boxit water proof cases.

These exhibitors are joining the widest range of paddle sports equipment and service providers available in the UK under one roof!

Special Olympics Great Britain Kayakers attending Canoexpo 2008

Special Olympics athletes and World Summer Games 2007 medallists Chris Mills (1 gold, 1 bronze), Richard Wood (1 silver, 1 bronze), Kathryn Smith (2 bronze), and Heather Osmond (1 bronze) are delighted to be invited to The Canoexpo

The four learning disabled athletes from Warwickshire, West Midlands are looking forward to attend the event with their World Summer Games Head Coach Geoff Smedley and represent the Special Olympics Movement at the Canoexpo.

It will be the perfect occasion to proudly show the medals they won during the Special Olympics World Summer Games in Shanghai, China, 2-11 October 2007 vs. 165 other countries. One of the biggest winners last year was the SOGB kayakers.

Also in attendance at the event will be SOGB Ambassador Extreme Kayaker Shaun Baker who will be exhibiting his Jet Kayak and offering encouragement to the team.

Whitewater workshops

Andrew 'Kayako Jacko' will be leading a workshop on video analysis aiming to improve your white water tecnique and Dennis Newton Jackos coaching director will be getting us mentaly prepared to tackle those rapids.

These workshops promise to be fun and fully interactive to really get you in the mood for your next river!

Simon Willis is the latest addition to the speaker line up at Canoexpo. Thousands of sea kayakers around the world know Simon's voice from his podcasting website SeaKayakRoutes.com, and through his work as a correspondent with the BBC. His presentaions are The Canoe Boys - Then and Now. Retracing a classic Scottish adventure for television and radio, and Across the Arctic Circle. An ideal first time expedition to Helgeland, an undiscovered corner of Norway. These are sure to interest experianced kayakers as well as new comers to the sport.

Something for everyone

The speaker program is growing every day, with Gordon Brown , Allen Ellard and Keith Morris the latest additions to the line up there is definitely something for everyone at Canoexpo.

Gordon is taking us round the world with tales of the sea from Scotland to Greenland and Allen will be amazing us with stories of adventures in the jungle valleys of Arunachal Pradesh.

Canoeists also have something to look forward to with Keith Morris founder member of the Open Canoe Sailing Group who will look at a wide range of approaches that are worth considering for sailing your canoe.

Different Strokes

Danny Mongno from Werner paddles will be holding a workshop on getting your paddle strokes right. Learn how to analyze your stroke, work on proper technique and make sure you are using the proper paddle designs and fits to find your way to Ultimate Paddle Performance. This is a dry land workshop so no need to get wet! Just bring an open mind and be ready to have fun!
